The Machina skid plate for the BMW R1250 GS and R1250 GSA gives the boxer full-coverage underbody protection without bolting anything to the engine. Built from 3mm aluminium with a black powder-coat finish, it shields the entire underside of the motor — from the leading edge of the exhaust headers all the way back to the catalytic converter and oil pan: the parts that are both most exposed and most expensive to repair.
It mounts to the frame, not the engine. Four mounting points — two at the front lower crash-bar locations and two at the rear, replacing the centre-stand pins with supplied retaining bolts — carry any impact into the bike's structure rather than into the engine cases. The plate is compatible with OEM and most aftermarket lower crash bars, fits Option 719 and 40th Anniversary models, and allows oil changes without removal. One plate fits both the GS and the GSA.
Bolt-on installation in approximately 20 minutes using standard spanners and allen keys, with all hardware included. Clearance with the front fender extender is verified; the plate sits naturally before bolting — no forcing needed. Designed and tested on Indian roads by MACHINA.

Yes. The same Machina skid plate fits both the BMW R1250 GS and R1250 GSA (2019–2023) with no separate part numbers. It is also compatible with Option 719 and 40th Anniversary editions, as the frame and centre-stand mounting approach clears the billet cylinder covers.
The Machina skid plate is frame-mounted at four points rather than bolting to the engine. The two front points use the lower crash-bar mounting locations, and the two rear points replace the centre-stand pins with supplied retaining bolts. Any impact is carried into the chassis rather than the expensive boxer engine cases.
The plate provides full bottom coverage, shielding the entire underside of the boxer engine — from the leading edge of the exhaust headers back to the catalytic converter and oil pan. These are the components most vulnerable to rock strikes and ground contact on gravel, forest roads, and trails, and the costliest to repair if damaged.
Yes. Because the front mounting points use the lower crash-bar locations, the plate is compatible with OEM lower crash bars and most aftermarket lower crash bars. Riders are not locked into a single crash-bar brand to use this skid plate.
Yes. Oil-change access is built into the design, so routine servicing can be done without removing the plate. The plate is made from 3mm aluminium with a black powder-coat finish for strength and corrosion resistance.
Approximately 20 minutes. The Machina plate sits naturally in position before bolting — no forcing needed. It bolts on to existing frame points with no drilling or permanent modifications. Standard spanners and allen keys are sufficient; all mounting hardware is included.

Be the first to share your experience! It is made for the BMW R 1250 GS / R 1250 GSA from 2019 to 2023. If you have other aftermarket parts fitted nearby, or you're not sure of your model year, send Machina a photo on WhatsApp before ordering and we'll confirm fitment.
3 mm aluminium with a black powder-coat finish. Aluminium is strong for its weight and does not rust, so it copes with rain, mud and road spray.
It bolts to the BMW R 1250 GS / R 1250 GSA's mounting points under the engine with basic hand tools. Fit all bolts loosely first, line the plate up, then tighten evenly. Any mechanic can fit it if you'd rather not do it yourself.
Yes. Tall speed breakers, potholes, flying stones and broken ghat roads are exactly what a skid plate is for. It keeps the sump and lower engine of your BMW R 1250 GS / R 1250 GSA safe from hits that could crack a casing and leave you stranded far from a service centre.
Check drain-plug and filter access when you first fit the plate. If access is tight on your model, the plate comes off with its mounting bolts in a few minutes for servicing.
